Panasonic Toughpad FZ-A2 is a new 10.1-inch Rugged Android tablet for enterprises

Panasonic has announced a new addition to the company’s Toughpad tablet series which is usually aimed usage on the enterprise stage, not the consumer level. The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-A2 was announced couple of days ago, at the Panasonic Automotive Innovation Summit in Barcelona.

Sporting a 10.1-inch display, the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-A2 is a rugged tablet just as it’s predecessor – the Toughpad FZ-A1 but runs the current latest Android OS – Marshmallow with Enterprise security from Android for Work. It is equipped with the Intel Atom X5-Z8550 Quad-Core processor clocked up to 2.4GHz with 4GB of RAM and 32GB eMMC storage.

Measuring 16.4 mm thick and weighing 880 grams; the tablet has a 10-point capacitive touchscreen display, screen res of 1920 x 1200 pixels (WUXGA) and high visibility (800cd/m2) for usage indoors and outdoors. The display can be used by hand, a capacitive stylus pen and even a gloved hand.

The body which is fully ruggedised with magnesium alloy, has the IP65 ingress protection rating for resistance to dust and water and operates effectively in temperatures ranging from -10 to +50°C*. It is backed by a removable battery which guarantees up to 9 hours working time and additional energy can be added with an optional hot swappable battery.

The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-A2 has a front FHD webcam, rear 8MP camera with LED flash and an array of built-in directional microphones for communication, voice recognition or video conferencing. Connectivity options available include – 1 x USB 3.0 Type A, 1 x USB 3.1 Type C OTG, 1 x HDMI, 1 x Micro SD, GPS, Bluetooth 4.2 and Dual Band Wi-Fi 802.11ac.

Other options such as ‎a ‎smartcard reader, 2D barcode reader and 4G connectivity are optional. ‎Scheduled to launch in July, the Panasonic ToughPad FZ-A2 will be available for a price tag of EUR 939 + tax. There are various accessories and peripherals available including a desktop cradle, 4 bay battery and two vehicle docks.
