Panasonic has announced a new rugged tablet which is said to be designed for business. Dubbed the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-B2, the Android tablet is bulky (18mm in thickness), weighs 540 grams which is rather heavy but overall users would be concerned about the toughness rather than the bulkiness.
Talking about the toughness, it is built to work in temperatures ranging between -10 to +50 degrees celcius; test-dropped to 150cm and IP65 certified for Water proof and dust resistance.
The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-B2 features a 7-inch (1,280 × 800 pixels) WXGA touchscreen with an anti-reflection layer, powered by a quad-core Intel Celeron N2930 processor which normally clocks at 1.83GHz but clocks up to 2.16GHZ using Intel Turbo Boost Tech, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot for expansion and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat OS.
Other features includes – a 5 MP rear camera, a 2 MP front facing snapper, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0 slot and a microSIM slot. The battery capacity on the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-B2 is not mentioned but the company tips the battery to work 7 straight hours non-stop on a single charge; the battery uses two and a half hours to charge and the battery is replaceable.
The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-B2 would be available in the UK by December for £709 (£591 + VAT) and would be available in the US by February 2015 for $1299.
