Panasonic Toughpad FZ-Y1 Rugged Windows tablet with 20-inch 4K display debuts in India

Panasonic has launched a new Windows-based Toughpad series tablet in India. The tablet in question is the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-Y1; it dons a 20-inch sized display with several rugged features and has a steep price tag of $3697 (Rs 2.4 Lakhs) which suggests it is not targeted at usage for home.

Commenting on the launch of the tablet, Gunjan Sachdev, National Business Head, Toughbook, Panasonic India, said:

We have designed this model in response to customer input, offering an unprecedented monitor capability for professionals who desire technological innovation in a one-stop tablet PC”. 

The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-Y1 has a 20-inch display with a resolution of (3840 x 2560 pixels) 4K IPS LCD display with an aspect ratio of 15:10. It is powered by an Intel Core i5-5300 processor with Intel HD Graphics 5500, up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256GB Solid State Drive (SSD). The device measures around 12.55mm thick and weighs 2.41kg.

In terms of ruggedity, the tablet can survive heights up to 76 centimetres (0.76 metres) and works in extreme temperatures between minus 29 degrees Celsius and up to 60 degrees. Onboard are USB 3.0 port, HDMI 2.0 port, MiniDisplay port, Ethernet Port, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and a microSDXC card slot.

There is an optional cradle for the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-Y1 which will offer additional ports – 3 x USB 3.0, LAN and HDMI ports. The slate is backed by a 4770mAh battery and runs Windows 8.1 Pro OS.
