Pantech is (was) the third largest smartphone manufacturer in South Korea; however the company couldn’t compete financially and in terms of sales to the likes of LG and Samsung.
Even thought there hasn’t been much update on the news until recently; the company went on sale last August and had until April 2015 to find a buyer or liquidate. It seems the liquidation is the option as there is no buyer for the company for the company and most of its assets would be sold off to settle outstanding debts.

According to Mobileteleforn.ru, Pantech had a killer phablet in the works which it couldn’t end up releasing due to the fact that it couldn’t pay for the production of the device. The device could have been touted as the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 competition but that’s not feasible again.
The phablet in question is the Pantech Vega Secret Up 2; it features a 6-inch (2560 X 1440 pixels) Quad HD resolution display resulting in a pixel density of 490ppi. Under the hood, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor with Adreno 420 GPU, 3GB of RAM and 32GB space of internal storage.
The phablet is said to have a Stylus Pen, 1W loudspeaker, fingerprint scanner, supports 4G LTE and is backed by a 3480mAh processor. The company was supposed to announce the phablet around August 2014 but it never surfaced.
Pantech has more pertinent issues on ground now, the brand may go into extinction forever. Let us also join the bandwagon by paying our last respect – R.I.P Pantech.
