Last week, Philips and Mediq announced a a health focused tablet which obviously have inputs from both companies. The Philips VISIQ as it is known is dubbed as the first tablet in the world that can bring doctors to their patients and perform diagnostic tests.
The tablet is developed by Philips and Medical Service Netherlands (MSN) which is a subsidiary of Mediq. The Philips VISIQ consists of a tablet and a transducer to make it perform ultrasound functions. It also comes standard with a secure wireless connection which allows it send data straight to the hospital.
A doctor using the tablet to diagnose a patient with abdominal discomfort would be be able to know the diagnosis whether it is liver abnormalities, kidney related or Glass toes. Pregnant women and people with mobility impairment can take advantage of the new technology.
Commenting on the technology, the first doctor to use the Philips VISIQ is Henna Tuinfort from the Netherlands, said;
“For me it is now possible to go one step further to look at complaints. I can then give better advice, patients often reassure, but also refer targeted if necessary. Moreover, I get my patients back that they’re glad they’re very fast, very close to home, can contact their own doctor for an ultrasound examination, such research may be necessary. “
Henk Valk, general manager of Philips Healthcare, also added;
