With the rate at which batteries on smartphones drain easily nowadays, Phillips has taken a step forward on Wednesday by releasing one of its latest and newest smartphone, the Phillips W6618. The Phillips W6618 is not a high end smartphone with moderate specifications but it comes with a monster battery.

Its is common to see smartphones and tablets with battery capacity of 4000mAh, but the story is different with the W6618, as the phone is packed with 5000mAh battery which in standby mode can last around 66 days (1604hrs) and upto 33hrs of talk time.

The Phillips W6618 features 5-inch qHD display with 540 x 960 pixels, 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core CPU, 1Gb RAM, thickness of 11.4 millimetres, 4Gb of Internal storage, micro SDcard slot. Despite the fact that the phones’ camera details are not revealed, the device will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, dual sim capability, and more importantly a 5300mAh battery which provides 33hours of talktime and 66days of standby mode.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY
The Philips W6618 has been launched in China on Wednesday, but its most likely the phone won’t make it to the US or Europe. The mid range smartphone costs around 1,699 CNY (roughly $273); that’s around N45,000 in Nigerian Naira.

With recently announced china made Eton Thor Smartphone packed with a 5000mAh, Droid Max phone with 3500mAh. In the range of tablets, the Phillips W6618 also beats Nexus 7 (3950mAh) and the Samsung Galaxy Tab PRO 8.4 (4800mAh).

In terms of specs, the Phillips W6618 is no different from any mid range phone, but in terms of battery capacity we think there is no tablet, smartphone or phablet with that capacity for now.
