Pliris Mobile is not a dominant player in the Nigeria smartphone market but better be a player than don’t play at all, right?. The company seems to have woken up from its slumber and looks ready to take on the likes of Infinix, Innjoo and Tecno who are shaping up the market and other brands like Wiko, ITel which are also present too.
Pliris Mobile has a new smartphone in the works; while we don’t have the name of the device, some of the press images have been made available. The smartphone is expected to be available in the markets by July 2015.
Moving to the available specs, the display size is unknown but am sure we are dealing with a 5-inch or 5.5-inch display, powered by an octa-core processor (MediaTek comes to mind), paired with 2GB of RAM and is backed by an impressive 3500mAh battery.
Handling photography on the device, there is a 8MP rear camera with Flash and a front facing 5MP camera for selfies. The device has a fingerprint scanner below the camera on the back; it supports Dual SIM functionality, NFC connectivity option as well as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
Finally, the upcoming smartphone from Pliris Mobile supports 4G LTE which is a welcome development but there aren’t many networks providing the aforementioned service in Nigeria right now. Lest I forget, phones from Pliris Mobile have a tendency to be thick so we don’t expect a slim device but who knows, they could surprise us.
We await more details about the device and we will be bringing more information when it is available. The question of if this upcoming smartphone has what it takes to shake up the market arises or better still rival the contemporaries in the market?
