Alcatel has added a new pocket-friendly smartphone with entry-level specs to its portfolio in the US. Dubbed the Alcatel TRU, the value-packed LTE-enabled smartphone is available at participating MetroPCS stores for only $29 (after mail-in rebate) with eligible phone activation or upgrade.
Running Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, with no word on upgrade to Marshmallow or Nougat; the Alcatel TRU has specs reminiscent of the Alcatel POP 3 (5) as it sports a 5-inch (854 x 480 pixels) FWVGA touchscreen display and is designed with soft noir faux leather on the rear.
The device relies on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 (MSM8909) clocked at 1.11GHz with Adreno 304 GPU for graphics as well as 1GB of RAM and 8GB Built-in storage space.
For additional storage space, there is a microSD card slot for expansion up to 32GB. A front 2-megapixels camera handles taking selfies and video chatting while the main camera is the rear placed 5-megapixels AutoFocus snapper with LED flash. Those who love to enhance their photos can take advantage of Polaroid software filters onboard.
The Alcatel TRU weighs 167 grams, measures 140.97 x 71.37 x 9.9mm in dimensions and supports 4G LTE connectivity as well as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and GPS/AGPS.
