Pocket Friendly Gionee Pioneer P2M launched with Android 5.1 and 3000mAh battery

Gionee has officially announced a pocket friendly budget smartphone – the Gionee Pioneer P2M, an upgrade over the Gionee Pioneer P2 with big battery capacity that was launched in 2013.

The device is priced at Rs 6999 ($109) in Gold, Black and White Shades; it is available via offline and online retail outlets in India. The Dual-SIM enabled Gionee Pioneer P2M runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with Amigo 3.0 UI ontop and is backed by a 3000mAh battery.

The battery is expected to provide around 300 hours of standby time on 3G networks and around 15 hours of talk time. Moving to the other specs, it features a 4-inch (800 x 480 pixels) WVGA IPS display and measures 124 x 62.5 x 10.9mm in dimensions.

Under the hood, it is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz paired with 1.3GHz paired with 1GB RAM. There is 16GB space of internal storage onboard which is expandable due to the presence of a microSD card slot (up to 32GB).

On the rear, the device sports a 5MP camera with LED flash and front facing 2MP camera for selfies and video chats. Connectivity options on the Gionee Pioneer P2M includes Bluetooth, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and micro USB. Sensor options includes Accelerometer, Ambient Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor and Magnetometer.

The Gionee Pioneer P2M doesn’t slay in terms of the spec features but with Android Lollipop onboard and the temptation of more days of battery life could be the selling point of the device.

It is not without competitors tho, the Micromax Canvas Juice 2 (Rs 8999, $141) and Lava Iris Fuel 50 (Rs 7799, $122) both have 3000mAh batteries too.
