PocketBook has announced the launch of the second iteration of the InkPad ereader which launched in 2014 and considered by many as one of the best ereaders around. The similar 8-inch PocketBook InkPad 2 keeps most of the specs from the InkPad and comes with a slightly better screen performance.
The PocketBook InkPad 2 sports the familiar one-handed design as well as the same 8-inch (1200 x 1600 pixels) UXGA multisensor display with capacitive touch screen and E-Ink Pearl technology for safe eye-sight. The screen also has improved optical properties according to the press release.
This ereader runs the same proprietary OS on the InkPad and relies on a 1GHz CPU along with 512MB of RAM, 4GB built-in storage space and a microSD card slot for additional storage space. It also comes pre-loaded with a number of relevant apps, support for a wide variety of ebook formats, TTS and MP3 playback support, built-in Wi-Fi and headphones Jack.
The PocketBook InkPad 2 is backed by a 2500mAh battery for up to a month of battery life and weighs 305 grams (about 45 grams less than its predecessor. The new InkPad is available online for a suggested retail price (SRP) of EUR 199.
