Polaroid is also jeering up for the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona, Spain. The company will be announcing four smartphones at the event – the devices are the Polaroid Omega, Polaroid Phantom, Polaroid Cosmos and Polaroid Thunder. All four devices would be available afterwards in Europe, run on Android 4.4 Kitkat OS and have Dual SIM functionality.
Most of the specs of these devices are not detailed, but we know that the Polaroid Omega and Polaroid Phantom would sport 5-inch and 5.5-inch displays respectively. Under the hood both are powered by an octa-core Soc which clocks at 1.4GHz (possibly MediaTek MT6592) with 1GB of RAM and 8GB space of internal storage. The device makes use of a 13MP main camera and a front 8MP camera for selfies.
Moving to the Polaroid Thunder – it would sport a 5-inch display, powered by a quad-core processor with 512MB of RAM, 4GB space of internal storage and a microSD card slot. It would also support 4G connectivity.
Much is unknown about the Polaroid Cosmos than it would be a high end device and sport the same cameras as the Polaroid Thunder Omega and Phantom.
We hope Polaroid would stay out of trouble this time by releasing smartphones which are not reminiscent of the already available smartphones in the market. It unveiled a blatant rip-off of the Oppo N1 at the CES 2015 which it calls the Polaroid Selife.
There is no word on pricing yet but all four device are expected to be moderately priced and would all be available for purchase in Europe. We would know more about these device at the MWC, where they would go official.
