Yesterday at the Mobile World Congress, Porsche Design Group, a major-owned subsidiary of Porsche AG, announced the Porsche Design BOOK ONE – a new 2-in-one laptop with Intel SoC & Microsoft’s Windows 10 OS. According to CNN, it is the world’s first 2-in-1 to be both detachable and convertible.
Designed in Germany and manufactured in partnership with Taiwanese-based Quanta; the Porsche Design BOOK ONE follows and improves the design footprint of the Microsoft Surface Book. It sports a 13.3-inch (3200 x 1800 pixels) QHD touchscreen display with support for 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity and milled aluminum body with matte anodized surface finish.
The BOOK ONE also has a 360-degree hinge; front 5MP camera + infrared camera for Windows Hello face authentication and detachable display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. On the inside, it boots Windows 10 Pro and packs Intel’s latest 7th-generation Core i7-7500U processor with HD Graphics 620, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage.
It also comes with a magnetically attached Wacom-designed Stylus Pen, precision touchpad and backlit keyboard, microSD card slot, headphone jack, two USB-C ports (one is Thunderbolt-capable) and two full-size USB 3.0 ports. Expected to arrive in April, the Porsche Design BOOK ONE 2-in-1 will be available in the United States and Europe (Germany) for $2,495 from Porsche Design Stores and specialist retailers in other countries.
