Portabook XMC10 is a 8-inch laptop with 12-inch foldable keyboard

Japanese company, King Jim has announced its first ever laptop – the 8-inch Portabook XMC10 with a 12-inch foldable keyboard. The laptop will arrive by February 12, 2016 with an expected price around JPY 90,000 (approx. $740 USD) but will unlikely be available outside Japan.

The highlight of the Portabook XMC10 is the 12-inch keyboard which is foldable from the middle into two parts and stored side-by-side facing 90-degrees to match the dimensions of the screen (8-inch wide) when the laptop is closed. The notebook also has a optical pointing device and three clickable buttons.

When closed, the laptop measures 20.32 x 15.24 x 3.3 cm in dimensions and when opened it measures 20.4 x 15.3cm but the overall weight is less than 1kg which is about 830 grams in size. The 8-inch LCD display has a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels (WXGA). 

The Portabook XMC10 is powered by an Intel Atom x7-Z8700 processor clocked up to 2.4GHz with 2GB RAM, 32GB eMMC expandable storage and boots Windows 10 Home OS (64-bit) out-of-the-box with both the Microsoft Office Mobile and Office 365 available free for a whole year.

The rest of the specs includes – Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, a microSD card slot, micros USB port, VGA slot and HDMI port. The laptop takes up to 3 hours to charge fully and has a battery life of around 5 hours. It is chargeable using the micro USB port and Power Banks can be used for charging.
