2014 in general has not been a good year for Samsung – the company’s financial results has highlighted struggling sales and the company is still embroiled in a court battle with Nvidia. In the past few weeks, we have seen some leaks off what we should be expecting from the company next year. Notions of reducing their device portfolio has been in the media but we have seen several smartphones of late like the Galaxy E series, the Samsung Galaxy J1 of the rumored Galaxy J series, the Samsung Galaxy Grand 3 got certified of recent and Tizen OS based Samsung Z1 could make its debut in January.
It has been all smartphones until today when a Samsung tablet was sported at first via Zauba Listing (Indian’s import and export site) and on a benchmark listing. The tablet in question is identified with the codename Samsung SM-T116 and the tablet is tipped to be the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Lite.
Spec-wise the Galaxy Tab 4 Lite (SM-T116) features a 7-inch display with 1GB of RAM and Android 4.4 Kitkat OS with Samsung’s UI expected to be ontop. The device would be powered by a quad-core Spreatrum SC8830 processor clocked at 1.2GHz. The tablet is expected to cost around Rs 6313 ($99) as the listing suggests.
The tablet could go official soon with January touted to be the likely launch date. Samsung claims it would trim down its devices lineup but the leaks and rumours we have been seeing sofar it doesn’t look like slowing down.
