Your Instagram feed is about to get more lively or irritating as the case may be. An update gradually rolling out to the photo sharing platform now allows its more than 600 million users to post multiple photos on Instagram. The update is available on Instagram version 10.9 for iOS the Apple App Store and Android on Google Play.
This new feature means you can now post up to 10 photos or videos in a single post. These are visible in swipe-able gallery form or slideshows (i.e dots appear under posts with multiple images/videos indicating the number of uploads). This is a bit similar to the carousel ad format for advertisers on Instagram and at the moment, images in galleries are in the platform’s original square-cropped formats.
At the point of posting, the ‘Select Multiple’ icon presents itself among the options. Once selected, the order of uploads can also be further re-arranged and filters can be added one after the other or collectively. A single caption and location applies to the group while comments appear like a regular post.
Looking at the stats, out of Instagram’s over 600 million users, over 400 million users are active daily on the platform and over 150 million users use Instagram Stories on a daily basis.
