Blackberry has officially announced the Blackberry Porsche Design P’9983, the successor to the BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9982 which debuted last year.
The main talking point about the Porsche Design P’9983 is obviously not its specs but the smartphone build. The smartphone is made from premium quality materials – a special glass-weave technology for the back door, forged stainless steel for the Porsche design floating logo and chassis and also a sapphire glass for the camera lens. The company is also offering exclusive aftermarket accessories including back covers made from fine Italian leather coming in different colour options.
The BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9983 features a 3.1-inch (720 x 720 pixels) touchscreen display with a 1:1 aspect ratio. The device is powered by a Dual Core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm MSM8960 (Snapdragon S4 Plus) chipset with Adreno 225 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The device sports 64GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot for storage expansion.
On the rear is a 8MP Autofocus camera with Flash; capable of 1080p HD video recording and a front facing 2MP fixed focus camera; capable of 720p HD video recording. Connectivity options includes Dual-Band 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4GHz /5GHz), Bluetooth 4.0 LE, 3G HSPA+, 4G LTE, GPS/GLONASS, NFC, FM Radio and also has Accelerometer, Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Gyroscope, Ambient light sensor as Sensor options.
The BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9983 runs on Blackberry OS 10.3, measures 119 x 67.1 x 10.6 mm and weighs 140grams. The device is juiced up by a 2100mAh battery which is touted to provide around 12 days of Standby time, 45 hours of audio playback and 8.1 hours of video playback. In the Porsche Design P’9983 box you get – premium stereo headset, polishing cloth, high-speed transfer USB cable, international charging kit.
The BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9983 would be available starting October select carriers, select retailers around the world and available Porsche Design stores. No pricing details or specific country availability was announced along with the smartphone but expect a premium price.
Extra: The BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9983 was launched at an event in Dubai and will feature Exclusive Porsche Design PIN (Unique PIN) range which is recognisable for the premium smartphone users only.
