More than three years after launching Project Fi, Google is rebranding of its MVNO services as Google Fi. The resulting rebrand is coming as a result of the service’s expansion to more devices other than those designed for Fi – like the Pixel 3/Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 2 XL, Moto G6, Android One Moto X4, LG G7 ThinQ and LG V35 ThinQ.
Compatible Android phones from major manufacturers and iPhones (currently in Beta) can now sign up for Fi. iPhone users will require additional settings via the Google Fi iOS app.
Depending on the type of Android or iOS device signed-up, users will enjoy reliable coverage (serviced by Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular and Three); easy group plans and high speed international data coverage. Also, there are no hidden costs and contracts whatsoever.
Google Fi’s unique feature of allowing devices switch seamlessly between multiple cellular networks is still restricted only to phones designed for Fi and those on the official website.
