Microsoft has announced its new official browser and Windows 10 Web browser – the Microsoft Edge. The new browser has just been unveiled at the Microsoft Build 2015 conference and is no more than the Project Spartan browser which was announced three months ago.
The Microsoft replaces the Windows Explorer as the official Windows OS browser, though a version of the latter would be available too. The browser is expected to be available across the ‘widest range of Windows 10 devices’ i.e it would be available on Windows 10 phones, tablets, PCs and more.
Most of what the Project Spartan browser/Microsoft Edge offers is known but let us recap them. The browser would come with Cortana integration which means you can instruct the digital assistant to perform functions such as opening a website e.g ‘Hey, Cortana, Open www.google.com’. Asides Cortana Integration, the New Tab page has been redesigned showing favorites, stocks, weather info, featured apps and news stories relevant.
Other features touted are the ‘Built-in Note taking and sharing feature, a reading pane with no distraction and with some minor modification developers can make Firefox and Chrome extensions to work with the Microsoft Edge.
The Microsoft Edge is expected to debut alongside the Windows 10 OS when it available commercially in coming months. You can check out the official video introducing the Edge browser for Windows 10:
