Project Zero: More Details About the Upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 surfaces

The reign of the Samsung S5 is seeming coming to an end as the flagship of the South Korean company as details of the upcoming flagship from the company dubbed the Samsung Galaxy S6 is set to be in the works.

Like any flagship smartphone from Samsung, they all have similar code names – the Galaxy S4 is codenamed – Project J, Galaxy Note 3 is codenamed Project H, the Galaxy S5 is codenamed Project K, the Galaxy Note 4 is codenamed Project T and the upcoming Galaxy S6 is tipped to be codenamed Project Zero. Asides that code name, some of the purported specifications has been tipped as well as the different code names for different regions.

Specs-wise, the Samsung Galaxy S6 is said to feature a Quad HD (2560 × 1440 pixels) but the screen size is unknown at the moment. The camera is said to be the Sony IMX240; the same as that of the Galaxy Note 4 with the company undecided on going for the 16MP or the 20MP. The front camera is said to be similar to the Samsung Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 which is a 5MP snapper.

Samsung is said to be ditching the 16GB version of the Galaxy S6 by going directly with the 32GB, 64GB and 128GB internal storage options. Moving to the RAM, the company is said to be content with just 3GB of RAM which should be more than enough to carry the various tasks the smartphone is subjected to.

Moving to the processors, the Samsung Galaxy S6 is said to be powered by the new Samsung Exynos 7420 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810. The Samsung Exynos 7420 is a 64-bit chipset with four Cortex-A53 and four Cortex-A57 cores. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 Soc which is the first 64-Bit chipset from the company for flagship devices;on the other hand would also be used on some models.

Samsung is also said to have developed an in-house LTE modem (model SS333, or Exynos Modem 333) which is said to replace the Intel Modem currently used by Samsung on its chipset for offering LTE connectivity. Samsung is also reported to be using the Broadcom BCM4773 chipset on the Galaxy S6. The BCM4773 chip is said to combines GPS and Sensors on a single Chip. This results in a drastic drop in battery drain as it allows the device to take and compute data from the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS modules on a single chip.

The Development of the Project Zero is said to be in its early stages and any of the above details still has ample time to still change. But from time to time as the details trickle out we would keep an eye on them to know more about the Samsung Galaxy S6. Samsung would want to make a major statement with the Galaxy S6 as its has not been a smooth year for the company in terms of sales of smartphones.
