Qualcomm has unveiled a new mobile platform – the Snapdragon 768G to address the increasing demand for affordable 5G-enabled devices across the global market. The new mobile platform brings some improvements over last year’s Snapdragon 765G (the 5G version of the Snapdragon 765) and will be available on upcoming 5G mobile devices starting with the Redmi K30 5G Racing Edition.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 768G Mobile platform is designed to deliver on-device AI by the 5th gen Qualcomm AI engine, multi-camera capabilities, truly global 5G connectivity (NSA/SA), all-day battery life and Snapdragon Elite Gaming features for immersive and superior gaming experience. Compared to the Snapdragon 765G, the 768G has the same architecture and features, however, the CPU and GPU performance has been bumped up.
The Kryo 475 CPU Prime clocks are now clocked up to 2.8GHz (was clocked up to 2.4GHz on the 765G) and Adreno 620 GPU offers up to 15% performance increase (PS: Recall that the Adreno 620 GPU was one of the key differences between the Snapdragon 765 and 765G). The new chipset also supports Adreno Updateable GPU Drivers and is both pin- and software-compatible with the Snapdragon 765 and 765G. The Snapdragon X52 5G Modem-RF System onboard is billed to deliver up to 3.7 Gbps multi-gigabit peak download speeds and 1.6 Gbps upload speeds.
