Along with the launch of the premium-tier Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC; Qualcomm Technologies also touched on the release of a new version of its Quick Charging technology – the Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0. It is designed to deliver faster charge time, more efficiency and run cooler than prior generations.
Featuring the third release of INOV (Intelligent Negotiation for Optimum Voltage) and Dual Charge, the Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 is engineered to charge a typical smartphone from zero to 50 percent in about 15 minutes or less. Also, it is tagged 5 for 5 – because it is expected to deliver five hours or more of battery life on about 5 minutes of charge.
Compared to the Quick Charge 3.0, users enjoy up to 20-percent faster charging time and up to 30-percent higher efficieny, while charging up to 5° C cooler. It also integrates USB Type-C and USB-PD support and comes with advanced safety features for both the adapter and mobile device.
An additional layer of protection is also being added to help prevent battery over-charging and regulate current throughout every charge cycle. Devices with the Snapdragon 835 SoC and Quick Charge 4.0 are billed to launch by the first half of 2017 (H2 2017).
