Qualcomm has added three new additions to the Snapdragon processor family – the Snapdragon 653, Snapdragon 626 and Snapdragon 427. The trio offer various upgrades over previous gen chipsets and are designed to improve charge times, performance and enhance connectivity.
All three provide Dual Camera support and incoprates both Quick Charge 3.0 technology and the Snapdragon X9 LTE modem, which is said to have been engineered to achieve up-to 50 percent faster upload speeds than the X8 LTE used on processors like the Snapdragon 652, 650, 617 and 435.
- The Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 (MSM8976Pro) offers up to ten percent more performance than the Snapdragon 652. It has seen an increase clock speed up to 1.95GHz, addressable RAM has been doubled up to 8GB and also supports advanced features like the Enhanced Voice Services (EVS) on VoLTE calls, Adreno 510 GPU and an octa-core CPU configuration (4x ARM Cortex A72 + 4x ARM Cortex A53).
- The Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 (MSM8953Pro) improves on the performance of the Snapdragon 625 by up to ten percent with a clock speed up to 2.2GHz and also implements Qualcomm TruSignal antenna boost for improve signal reception in congested areas.
- The Qualcomm Snapdragon 427 (MSM8920) is the first in the 400 series to offer TruSignal antenna tuning. It features a quad-core CPU (4x ARM Cortex A53), Adreno 308 GPU and the Snapdragon X9 LTE modem on-board pushes it to the front of the line in the series.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 has begun making appearances on smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro, Oppo R9s and Oppo R9s Plus. Meanwhile the Snapdragon 626 processor will be deployed later this year while the Snapdragon 427 will arrive early next year.
