Qualcomm has taken the wraps off two new Snapdragon 600-tier mobile platforms – the Snapdragon 660 (first ever 600-series processor to use a Kyro CPU) and Snapdragon 630. Both mid-range options are the direct successors to the Snapdragon 653 and 626/625 respectively, and are engineered to support better connections, capture true-to-life photos and deliver improved battery life, performance, and security.
For the first time in the Snapdragon 600-tier platform, features such as Qualcomm Spectra camera ISP, Qualcomm Kryo CPU, and Hexagon Vector extensions (HVX) have been introduced from the higher 800-tier platform. Also, the Quick Charge 4.0 which launched with the Snapdragon 835 is also available on the duo.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 660
Manufactured using the 14nm process tech, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 features 8x Kryo 260 CPU cores clocked at 2.2GHz, Adreno 512 GPU (Vulkan API) and QuickCharge 4.0. The CPU is said to be 20% faster than the Snapdragon 653 and the GPU is 30% faster than the Adreno 510 on the SD653.
It also features the latest Snapdragon X12 LTE modem, Qualcomm Hexagon 680 DSP, Qualcomm Hexagon Vector eXtensions (HVX), Qualcomm All-Ways Aware, Wi-Fi 802.11ac Wave 2, Qualcomm TruSignal adaptive antenna tuning, Qualcomm TruSignal adaptive antenna tuning, 16MP + 16MP dual cameras support, 4K video capture and playback, 1440p display support, Bluetooth 5.0 and USB 3.1 .
Qualcomm Snapdragon 630
Also based on the 14nm process tech, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 uses 8x ARM Cortex-A53 clocked at 2.2GHz instead of Kyro 260 CPU cores and Adreno 508 GPU (30% faster than the Adreno 506 GPU). It supports up 13MP + 13MP dual cameras, 1080p display and Qualcomm Hexagon 642 DSP.
Like the Snapdragon 660, the SD630 also features the Snapdragon X12 LTE modem, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac Wave 2, 4K video capture and playback, Qualcomm Aqstic audio codec support, Qualcomm All-Ways Aware, Qualcomm TruSignal adaptive antenna tuning, USB 3.1.
