Qualcomm Unveil Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System with Up To 10Gbps Speeds

Qualcomm Technologies has taken the wraps off its latest 5G modem-to-antenna solution, the Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System. Built using a new 4nm process (presumably by Samsung), the 4th-gen 5G modem is the world’s first 10 Gigabit 5G modem and first 3GPP release 16 modem-RF system. The company also mentioned the launch of the Snapdragon X62 5G Modem-RF System for lower-end devices, which achieves 4.4Gbps download speeds.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System is the direct successor to the Snapdragon X60 5G Modem-RF System (7.5Gbps download speeds), which is currently integrated into the high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G mobile platform. It achieves 10Gbps download speeds on SA and NSA networks, and features an upgradeable architecture that allows for tweaks and enables forthcoming updates and software releases.

It is also equipped with the Qualcomm QTM545 mmWave antenna module, which has the same tiny size as its predecessor but transmits higher power and supports the full range of mmWave frequencies available around the globe. Qualcomm also announced the inclusion of world’s first AI antenna tuning technology, which would serve the purpose of improving cellular performance and power-efficiency.

Qualcomm has sent out batches of the Snapdragon X65 and Snapdragon X62 to customers for sampling. Devices equipped with these 5G modem will be available by the end of 2021.
