Nearly a year after Razer acquired Nextbit – the startup behind the cloud-based Robin smartphone, the PC gaming company has officially announced its first smartphone, called the Razer Phone. It will go on sale priced at $700 (€750 or £700) in US and Canada, Europe and UK starting on November 17. It will be sold on Razer’s online store or Amazon.com.
The Razer Phone packs a 5.7-inch QHD IGZO LCD 16:9 display with 120Hz refresh rate, fingerprint sensor (home button), USB Type-C port, dual front-facing stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support and depends on a generous 4,000mAh battery with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4+ fast charging.
As expected, the internals are what to expect from a flagship Android phone. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor which can be found on devices such as the Google Pixel 2/2 XL, LG V30/V30+, Galaxy S8/S8 Plus, HTC U11+, Essential PH-1, Nokia 8 and Moto Z2 Force.
The Razer Phone packs 8GB of RAM, 64GB built-in expandable storage (up to 256GB via microSD) and boots stock version of Android 7.1 Nougat OS with Nova Launcher Prime and Google Assistant. It is equipped with a front 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera and dual rear cameras – 12MP AF f/1.75 wide + 13MP AF f/2.6 Zoom snappers with dual LED flash and Dual PDAF.
