Huawei has unveiled three smartphones under the nova 6 series – the Huawei nova 6 5G, Huawei nova 6 and Huawei nova 6 SE for the Chinese market. The first two models are powered by the Kirin 990 chipset – the same used in the Mate 30 series and depends on a 4,100mAh (4G) / 4,200mAh (5G) battery with 40W SuperCharge fast charging while the SE model is based on the Kirin 810 chipset and has a 4,200mAh battery with the same fast charging technology.
The Huawei nova 6 and nova 6 5G sport a 6.7-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display with an oval punch hole for the dual front cameras and come pre-loaded with EMUI 10 (based on Android 10). While the pair have the same side-mounted fingerprint sensor and NFC, key differences noted are the inclusion of the Balong 5G modem alongside the chipset in the 5G variant and some camera details.
Photography on the 5G variant is handled by a triple camera setup which includes a 40MP (RYYB, f/1.7, EIS) main camera paired with a 8MP (f/2.4, OIS) telephoto lens and 8MP (f/2.4) ultra-wide lens while the front punch hole houses the 32MP (f/2.2) + 8MP (f/2.2) dual cameras for selfies. The 4G variant has the same setup, however, the main camera has a f/1.8 aperture while the front has a f/2.0 aperture.
The nova 6 SE has a tad smaller 6.4-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display with the punch hole notch housing the 16MP selfie camera. Photography is handled by a quad camera setup with a primary 48MP camera paired with an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, 2MP macro camera and 2MP depth camera.
The nova 6 SE (8GB RAM + 128GB) is priced at CNY 2,199 while the nova 6 (8GB + 128GG) is priced at CNY 3,199. The nova 6 5G (8GB + 128GB) is available in China for CNY 3,799 and the 256GB storage version is priced higher at CNY 4,199.
