The Red Pepper Note 5 smartphone has gone official in China. Priced at CNY 999 (US$ 144), the phablet takes over from the Red Pepper Note 3 (released back in January) and joins the growing list of smartphones under the Red Pepper brand (still below ten as at last count).
Housed in a metal body build and pre-installed with Aliyun OS (YunOS 5.1.1), the Red Pepper Note 5 sports a 5.5-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD) screen resolution and 2.5D curved glass. As expected, it has Dual SIM slots and the battery capacity is sizeable at 4000 mAh battery with 5V/2A charging.
On the inside, the device is powered by the MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755) processor clocked at 1.8 GHz alongside 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB built-in storage. Photography is handled by a rear facing 13 MP camera with 0.2-second Phase Detection AutoFocus (PDAF) and a front facing 5 MP selfie camera.
The Red Pepper Note 5 supports 4G LTE connectivity (full network support) and the fingerprint sensor (0.2 sec unlock time) is embedded into the home button. It is already on sale in the home market for the aforementioned price tag.
