Xiaomi’s Redmi division has announced its latest K series smartphones – the Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro and Redmi K40 Pro+. The trio have a 6.67-inch FHD+ E4 AMOLED display with MEMC, 120Hz peak refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate, 20MP (f/2.4) selfie camera in the punch-hole notch, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and depend on the same 4,520mAh battery with 33W fast charging via the USB-C port.
On the inside, the successor to the K30 series is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 mobile platform while the K40 Pro and K40 Pro+ are based on the high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 mobile platform. The trio are available with up to 12GB RAM, up to 256GB (UFS 3.1) storage, Wi-Fi 6 (Wi-Fi 6E in pro/pro+), Bluetooth 5.1 (Bluetooth 5.2 in pro/pro+), dual-mode 5G SA/NSA connectivity, USB Type-C audio and MIUI 12 on top of Android 11.
For photography, the Redmi K40 has a triple camera setup with 48MP (f/1.79, Sony IMX582 sensor) primary, 8MP (f/2.4, 119° FOV) ultra-wide angle and 5MP (f/2.4, 50mm) advanced macro cameras. The Pro and Pro+ models swap out the primary camera on the K40 for respective 64MP (f/1.89, Sony IMX686 sensor) and 108MP (f/1.75, Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor) cameras but retain the other sensors.
Pricing and Availability
Starting March 4, Redmi is expected to commence sales of the K40 and K40 Pro in China while the Pro+ model will arrive by the end of March. Pricing and memory configuration is detailed below:
