Reliance Jio debut LYF Series smartphones – LYF Earth 1, LYF Water 1 and LYF Water 2

Indian-based conglomerate, Reliance Jio has released the first set of smartphones under the LYF series brand – the LYF Earth 1, LYF Water 1 and LYF Water 2. All three are available on the Reliance Digital Website for a respective price tag of Rs. 23,990 (USD 352), Rs. 14,999 (USD 220) and Rs. 14,690 (USD 216).

LYF Earth 1

Of the trio, the LYF Earth 1 packs specs that aligns it towards the higher midrange device; it sports a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD AMOLED display and relies on a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.5GHz with 3GB of RAM and 32GB built-in expandable storage space.

In the camera segment, the device uses a Dual rear camera setup – 13MP + 2MP cameras with HDR and Flash and comes with camera modes such as – ChromaFLash, Re-Focus, Fast Focus, Foregrounder, Optizoom. The front facing camera is a 5MP snapper for selfies and video chats.

The Dual SIM enabled LYF Earth 1 measures 154 x 76.6 x 7.25  mm in dimensions, weighs 162.5 grams, runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS and backed by a 3500mAh battery. For additional storage space, there is a microSD card slot for expansion up to 32GB and connectivity options available includes – ‎4G LTE, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0.

LYF Water 1 and LYF Water 2

Both the LYF Water 1 and LYF Water 2 are identical devices with differences in the aspect of screen resolution and battery capacity. The rest of the specs are technically the same.

The LYF Water 1 sports a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD LCD display and is backed by a 2600mAh battery while the LYF Water 2 sports a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD LCD display and is backed by a 2400mAh battery.

Both devices have Dual SIM slots, supports 4G LTE networks,  run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS and powered by a 64-bit  octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 MSM8939 processor with 2GB RAM, 16GB built-in storage space and a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 32GB.

For photography, the duo use the same rear facing 13-megapixel camera with Sony Exmor RS IMX-214 lens and a front facing 5-megapixel camera with 80-degree wide angle lens for selfies and video chats. ‎
