RugGear, a Hong Kong-based manufacturer which specialises in putting together rugged devices including smartphones and tablets, has released a new rugged smartphone in the market called the RugGear RG850. It comes pre-loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo OS and supports PTT (Push To Talk).
Backed by a long lasting 4,000mAh battery, the RugGear RG850 sports a 5.99-inch IPS FullView display with 1440 x 720 pixels (HD+) and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The metal body is IP68-certified (dust and water resistant), thus lasts up to 30 minutes in 1.2 metres of water and MIL-STD-810G tested to withstand falls from up to 1.5 metres.
In the camera aspect, the device has a a rear 12MP camera with LED flash and a front facing 8MP camera for selfies. On the inside, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 (MSM8937) octa-core mobile platform paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB built-in storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD).
The RugGear RG850 has dual nano SIM card slots, USB Type-C 2.0 and supports ten LTE bands (B1/ B2/ B3/ B4/ B5/ B7/ B8/ B20/ B38/ B40). It is expected to go on sale in Europe for a recommended price (RRP) of EUR 399.
