Rugged Cat S30 announced with Android 5.1 and 3000mAh battery

CAT has announced the Cat S30 rugged smartphone at the IFA 2015 event in Berlin. The moderately priced Android OS running rugged smartphone is priced at €329 ($367) and will be available in September 2015.

Commenting on the launch, the CEO Bullitt Mobile said, “With more companies going mobile, it’s becoming essential for smartphones to meet the demands of a full working day and the S30, caters for anyone working in challenging environments. As one of the new generation of Cat phones, it. also bridges the gap between feature and smartphones thanks to the inclusion of physical navigation buttons alongside the 4.5” touchscreen at an affordable price. “

Moving to the specs, the Cat S30 features a 4.5-inch TN TFT display with a resolution of (854 x 480 pixels) with Corning Gorilla Glass and is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm 410 MSM8909 processor clocked at 1.1GHz paired with 16GB space of internal storage and 1GB RAM. There is a microSD card slot for storage expansions.

Measuring 141.99 x 72.74  x 13.25mm in dimensions and weighing 181 grams; the device has a 5MP main camera with flash and a front facing 2MP camera for selfies. Connectivity options on the S30 includes – GPS, Bluetooth 4.1,  Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and 4G LTE/3G HSPA+. 

The Cat S30 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS out-of-the-box and is backed a 3000mAh battery which is expected to last several hours of usage. It is certified for being waterproof, dustproof, shockproof and drop proof up to 1.8 metres. The device also has military grade – Mil SPEC 810G certification to withstand the extreme weather conditions.
