Nokia has halted the sales of the Lumia 2520 due to electric shock risk

Nokia has suspended the sales of the Nokia Lumia 2520 Tablet a few days ago. The sales according to some reports has been suspended worldwide while some sources say it has only been suspended in Germany, Finland, Switzerland, Russia, Austria, Denmark and Uk.

The risk discovered is that the plastic cover of certain AC-300 charger units manufactured by a third party company that could loosen up and separate which would expose internal components which could cause electric shock when plugged in a power outlet. As such consumers in the above named countries are advised to stop using the charger for the time being while also advising users with travel chargers to also refrain from using them.

Nokia categorically stated that there has been no report of consumer incidents due to its usage and the warning applies to around 30,000 chargers including 600 travel chargers sold in the US. Currently the tablet would be useless as the AC-300 chargers are exclusively made for the Lumia 2520 which means other Nokia chargers won’t work with it.
