Several hours ago, Samsung commenced the commercial rollout of its Android Nougat OS update for its most recent flagships – the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. The update (roughly 215MB in size) brings new and improved features coupled with the company’s latest UI (TouchWiz).
One of the major changes can be spotted in the ‘Quick Panel’ interface which has been overhauled and the icons are arranged cleanly. The S Finder is also integrated into the Quick Panel to make searches on the phone or the Web. Notifications are now grouped and support direct replies.
With Nougat, Android devices now support the ‘Multi Window’ feature. Building on this, Samsung has tweaked the controller to adjust to the size of each window. A ‘Pop-Up’ window has been added to support up to five windows. Along with split screen mode, up to seven apps can run simultaneously.
