More than a year after announcing the Galaxy A Series devices – the Galaxy A3, A5 and A7; Samsung has announced their successors – the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016), Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) and Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016). All three devices pack premium design (metal plus glass), improved camera features, fingerprint sensor and support for Samsung Pay.
Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) and Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016)
The 5.5-inch sized Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) and 5.2-inch Galaxy A5 (2016) both share most of the same specs with main differences in screen size, RAM and battery capacity.
The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) sports a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) FHD Super AMOLED display with 3GB RAM memory, measures 151.5 x 74.1 x 7.3mm in dimensions, weighs 172 grams and is backed by a 3300mAh battery with fast charging.
The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) sports a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) FHD Super AMOLED display with 2GB RAM, measures 144.8 x 71.0 x 7.3mm in dimensions, weighs 155 grams and is backed by a 2900mAh battery with fast charging technology.
Both the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 (2016) are powered by an octa-core Exynos 7 Octa processor clocked at 1.6GHz with 16GB built-in storage space, run Android 5.1 Lollipop OS and the fingerprint sensor is embedded into the home button.
The main camera is a 13MP snapper with OIS and the front camera is a 5MP snapper. Both device have a microSD card slot, support 4G LTE (LTE Cat.6), and also come with Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) for Samsung Pay support.
Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016)
Also running Android 5.1 Lollipop OS, the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) sports a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display, powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz with 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB built-in storage space and a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 128GB.
The Galaxy A3 (2016) has a front facing 5MP camera and a rear facing 13MP main camera but with no OIS. It supports 4G LTE (LTE Cat.4) and Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.1, ANT+, USB 2.0 and NFC (UICC) options. It measures 134.5 x 65.2 x 7.3 mm in dimensions, weigh 132 grams and backed by a 2300mAh battery.
Pricing and Availability
All three smartphones are available in Single & Dual SIM options and comes in four colour options – Black, Gold, Pink Gold and White. The Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016), Galaxy A5 (2016) and Galaxy A7 (2016) will be available in China by mid-December 2015 and will expand to global markets.
