The Samsung DeX Pad is one of the official accessories released with the new Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ flagships at the Unpacked 2018 launch event. The new docking station improves over last year’s DeX Station by eliminating the need for inputs such as a mouse and keyboard.
The Samsung DeX Pad delivers a full-sized desktop experience from the Galaxy S9/S9+ whilst ustilising the screen as the touch keyboard (via a later update) and/or touch pad. It connects facing upwards to any of these devices via the USB-C port and powers screen resolutions up to QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels).
The dock has two full-sized USB ports for connecting peripherals, a USB Type-C port for charging and HDMI for connecting external displays. It is currently only compatible with the Galaxy S9/S9+ and doesn’t support the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ and Galaxy Note 8 yet.
