Samsung Exynos 2100 Will Power Flagship Galaxy Smartphones

Ahead of the first Galaxy Unpacked event of the year, Samsung has released its next-gen Exynos mobile chip for 2021 – the Samsung Exynos 2100. It is Samsung’s first 5G-integrated Exynos chipset manufactured using the most advanced 5-nanometer (nm) extreme ultra-violet (EUV) process node. The chipset is also expected to power the upcoming Galaxy S21 5G smartphones alongside the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 mobile platform.

The Samsung Exynos 2100 has an octa-core CPU with an improved tri-cluster structure and comprises of 1x powerful ARM Cortex-X1 core that clocks up to 2.9GHz, 3x high-performing Cortex-A78 cores that run up to 2.8GHz and four power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores that run up to 2.2GHz. The chipset is one of the first set of chipsets to include the powerful X1 core and Samsung partnered with ARM to manufacture this powerful core.

The new chipset allows up to 10% higher overall performance and up to 20% lower power consumption than its predecessor – the Exynos 990 7nm SoC, which powers the international variant of the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note S20. It includes the latest ARM’s latest Mali-G78 GPU, which delivers up to 40% better graphics and advanced multi-IP governor (AMIGO) technology, to optimise power usage in the CPU, GPU, and other activities in the chipset.

The Exynos 2100 is equipped with a newly designed tri-core NPU, which allows the chipset to perform up to 26-trillion-operations-per-second (TOPS) for better power efficiency and advanced AI and smart features. The included ISP supports up to 200MP cameras, up to six individual sensors for multi-camera experiences and the NPU provides support improved content-aware image processing.

Finally, the chipset has a StrongBox Keymaster for improved security and the built-in 5G modem supports both sub-6GHz (up to 5.1Gbps max downlink speed) and mmWave (up to 7.35Gbps max download link) spectrums.
