Samsung has deemed it fit to officially announce the Samsung Galaxy A7 which is also being marketed as the thinnest samsung device yet at just 6.3mm thickness. The Galaxy A7 maintains the same all-metal unibody that started off with the Samsung Galaxy Alpha and also ended up on the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5.
The Samsung Galaxy A7 is the third device from the Galaxy A Series and packs the highest specs of the trio. The specs starts off with a 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED display even though most listing seen so far suggested a Full HD (1080p) display. It is powered by two chipset – Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa-Core (1.5GHz Quad A53 + 1.0 GHz Quad A53 ) with Adreno 405 GPU and Exynos 5430 Octa-Core (1.8GHz Quad A15 + 1.3GHz Quad A7 ) with Mali T628 MP6 GPU.
The Snapdragon 615 SoC is available in the Dual SIM version of the device which also supports LTE in some markets while the Exynos 5430 SoC comes with the Single SIM version of the device with LTE support. Both version use 2GB of RAM, 16GB space of in-built storage and a microSD card slot for memory expansion.
The Samsung Galaxy A7 runs on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS with Android 5.0 Lollipop in tow. The device packs a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a front facing 5MP camera. Connectivity options on the device includes – 4G LTE Cat.4, A-GPS/GLONASS, NFC (LTE version alone), 3G, Bluetooth and 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi.
It measures 151 x 76.2 x 6.3mm, weighs 141 grams and uses a 2600mAh battery. The Android Kitkat OS is customised with the company’s proprietary UI ontop. The Samsung Galaxy A7 is available in Champagne Gold, Midnight Black and Pearl White Colour options. It is expected to go on sale by the end of Q1 2015 for €509.
