Following the recent launch of the Galaxy On8 in India, South Korean company, Samsung has announced this year’s model of the Galaxy A8 in its home country. The new Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016) is available exclusively in the country starting today (Oct. 1) for KRW 649,000 (US$ 580) via SK Telecom.
Moving to the specs, the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016) is a 5.7-inch phablet with 1920 x 1080 pixels (FHD) screen res, metal unibody design with 7.2mm thick frame and the Always On Display (AOD) feature on the Galaxy Note 7. It runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS and is backed by a 3500mAh battery.
On the inside, sits an octa-core Exynos 7420 64-bit processor with Mali-T760 GPU, 3GB of RAM, 32 GB built-in storage space and a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 256GB. Photography is handled by a rear facing 16 MP camera with LED flash and f/1.9 aperture, alongside a front facing 8 MP camera with the same f/1.9 aperture.
The fingerprint sensor, which also supports Samsung Pay, sits just below the main camera on the back. Connectivity options available on the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016) include – 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS/ GLONASS and NFC.
