Officially, Samsung has finally announced the Samsung Galaxy A9 in time for the festive season in China. The latest device in the company’s Galaxy A series comes with similar body design language – a mix of metal and glass to the Galaxy S6 series. There is no word on pricing yet but it will arrive in Gold, Pink and White colours to choose from.
Compared to other devices in the Samsung Galaxy A series – A3, A5, A7 and A8; the Samsung Galaxy A9 has a bigger 6-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD) and 2.5D Curved glass ontop. It measures 161.7 x 80.9 x 7.4 mm in dimensions and weighs 200 grams in size.
The smartphone uses a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 MSM8976 processor clocked at 1.8GHz (previously the Snapdragon 620) with Adreno 510 GPU, 3GB RAM, 32GB built-in storage space and a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 128GB.
Samsung decided to go with Android 5.1 Lollipop OS instead of Marshmallow on the Samsung Galaxy A9. For photography, there is a rear facing 13MP camera with f/1.9 aperture, S5K3L2 sensor, Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and LED flash; and a front facing 8MP camera with f/1.9 aperture for selfies.
This model of the Galaxy A9 for China has Dual Nano SIM slots but the international version could end up with just one. It supports Samsung Pay and the fingerprint sensor is embedded into the home button. Connectivity options available includes – Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, ANT+, NFC and 4G LTE.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 is backed by a 4000mAh battery which also supports fast charging.
