Barely two months after the phablet-sized Samsung Galaxy A9 (SM-A900) was officially available in China, there are already reports of a Pro version or more enhanced version in the works. According to SamMobile, Samsung is working on a new smartphone with model number: SM-A9100, which should end up as the Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro.
Asides confirming the development of the firmware of the Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro (SM-A9100) is also in the works, there is no information on the expected specs. Like the Galaxy A9, it is expected to be targeted at the Chinese market at first but could be made available in other markets at a later date if the response is very good.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 (SM-A9000) is a solid device, one has to wonder why a Pro version is coming. The company could actually be looking to include the latest Android OS – Android 6.0 Marshmallow (making the upgrade available will settle that), the screen resolution could go from FHD to QHD and possibly throw in more internal storage space (64GB).
If the device actually turns out real, it should keep some of the features of the OG Galaxy A9 – the premium looking mix of metal and glass body, Samsung Pay support, 6-inch display, Fingerprint sensor, NFC and the 4000mAh battery.
