Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime 4G with Android 5.1 Lollipop OS

Announced as far back as February, Samsung has finally launched the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime 4G smartphone in India. The device is priced at Rs 11,100 ($173) in Gold, Grey and White colour options.

As the name suggests, the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime 4G supports 4G LTE connectivity; it supports LTE Band 3 and Band 40 which means it will be compatible with LTE networks in India. Instead of launching with the Android Kitkat OS it was announced with, the company decided to put the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop OS which could be a selling point.

Moving to the specs, the Galaxy Grand Prime 4G sports a 5-inch (960 x 540 pixels) qHD PLS TFT display, 8GB space of internal storage, 1GB of RAM and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 64-bit processor clocked at 1.2GHz. There is a microSD card slot onboard for additional storage up to 64GB.

The main camera is a 8MP AutoFocus camera with LED flash and a front facing 5MP camera with 85-degree wide-angle lens for selfies. Connectivity options on the device includes – GLONASS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi direct, GPS and Bluetooth 4.0.

The Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime 4G is the company’s 14th 4G LTE-enabled smartphone in India; it measures 44.8 x 72.1 x 8.6mm in dimensions, weighs156 grams and is backed by a 2600mAh battery which should provide around 14 hours of talk time.
