A new Samsung entry-level smartphone, the first powered by a Mediatek processor has gone official. The Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime+ or Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime depending on the launch market, with model number:- SM-G532, succeeds the Galaxy Grand Prime released back in 2014.
Sporting a similar body design as the previous-gen Galaxy Grand device, this time with a patterned back cover, the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime+ / Galaxy J2 Prime sports a 5-inch (960 x 540 pixels) qHD IPS display and powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6737T processor along with 1.5GB RAM and 8GB built-in storage (up to 256GB via microSD).
Some variants might be offered with 2GB RAM and 16GB / 32GB built-in storage options. For photography, selfies and more, there is a rear facing 8MP camera with LED flash paired alongside a front facing 5MP camera with its own LED flash.
The Galaxy Grand Prime+ / Galaxy J2 Prime boots Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS, supports LTE connectivity and backed by a 2600mAh battery. In terms of pricing, it is currently listed for RUB 9,990 (~ EUR 140) in the Russian market and arrives in Black, Gold, Pink and White colour options.
No word on availability in other markets and while the name in various markets may vary, it is expected to sell for a price tag lower than that of the Russian market.
