The wait for the first Samsung device running Android Marshmallow OS out-of-the-box continues as the Samsung Galaxy J1 2016 Edition (styled as Samsung Galaxy J16) is now official in the UAE (Dubai). It is available through a number of electronic stores in Dubai for a price tag of AED 499 (USD 136).
Running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS, the Samsung Galaxy J1 2016 sports a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 800 x 480 pixels (WVGA) and is powered by a quad-core Samsung Exynos 3475 Cortex-A7 processor clocked at 1.3GHz with ARM Mali-T720 GPU, 1GB of RAM and 8GB built-in expandable storage space.
For photography, there is a front facing 2-megapixels camera for video calls and selfies; and a rear facing 5-megapixels camera with LED flash. The device has standard connectivity options – Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS as well as having support for 4G LTE connectivity.
The whole shebang is backed by a 2050mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy J1 2016 has a more powerful processor but the specs is almost the same as the Samsung Galaxy J1 Ace. The latter is on sale for about $10 or $20 less than the price of the 2016 Edition of the Galaxy J1.
