Samsung has officially announced its first smartphone coming from the Galaxy J Series – the Samsung Galaxy J1. Earlier this week the company patented more Galaxy J and Galaxy E Series name – the Galaxy J3, Galaxy J5, Galaxy J7 and Galaxy E3.
Back to the Samsung Galaxy J1 (SM-J100H) – the device got listed on Samsung Malaysia website which means the device would be sure to debut in the country and Russia is also tipped as a possible destination.

Moving to the specs, we know most of it already as the device has been in the news in different leaks. The device comes with basic entry level specs – the official listing shows it would be powered by 1.2GHz quad-core processor instead of the widespread 64-bit quad-core Marvell processor.
The Samsung Galaxy J1 sports a 4.3-inch (480 x 800 pixels) WVGA display, 512MB of RAM, 4GB space of internal storage and a microSD card slot for storage expansion (up to 128GB). Other features includes – Dual SIM functionality, runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat OS, front facing 2MP snapper, rear facing 5MP camera with LED flash and is backed by a 1850mAh removable battery which is believed to offer around 10 straight hours of talktime.
Connectivity options on the device includes – Wi-Fi Direct, GPS + GLONASS, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. It measures 129 x 68.2 x 8.9mm, weighs 122 grams and available in three colour options – Blue, White and Black.
The Samsung Galaxy J1 comes with some software features such as – ‘Tap to take pics’ feature which lets you take pics by simply tapping anywhere on the screen, there is also ‘Palm Selfie’ function which lets you take selfies or photos with a simple hand gesture. There is also Ultra power Saving mode feature also.
There is no word on pricing and it’s possible it doesn’t launch globally but in select markets.
