Samsung has developed an alternative to the Notification LED indicator on smartphones called ‘Smart Glow‘. The feature will be introduced with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy J2 2016 (Samsung Galaxy J26) which should make its way to the Indian market soon. Future Galaxy series device will reportedly also come with the feature in due course.
The Smart Glow is an illuminated ring around the main camera and flanked on either side by the LED flash and loudspeaker; which uses colours to indicate notifications. A colour can be set to display a priority or other alerts (missed calls, messages or more). It also indicates the battery level status and assist when taking selfies with the rear-placed camera.
Moving to the specs, the Samsung Galaxy J2 2016 is expected to pack a 5.0-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display, octa-core Spreadtrum SC8830 processor clocked at 1.5GHz along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB built-in expandable storage space. In the camera segment, there is a rear facing 8MP camera with LED flash and a front facing 5MP camera for selfies.
With the launch of the Galaxy J2 2016 not far away, we expect to know more about the feature on the device, the pricing and availability outside the Indian market, when it launches.
