Samsung India has announced the launch of its Mediatek-powered low-end smartphone. Priced at Rs 8490 (USD 125), the Samsung Galaxy J2 Ace has a 5-inch PLS TFT display with a screen resolution of 960 x 540 pixels (qHD), 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB built-in storage and depends on a 2600mAh battery.
On the inside, the Samsung Galaxy J2 Ace boots Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and relies on a quad-core Mediatek MT6737T processor clocked at 1.4GHz with Mali-T720 GPU. The device has a microSD slot (storage expansion up to 256GB), Dual SIM slots, measures 132.6 x 69.3 x 8.9mm and weighs 131 grams.
In the camera aspect, there is a rear facing 8MP AF camera alongside a front facing 5MP camera for selfies; both have LED flash and f/2.2 aperture lens. The smartphone supports 4G LTE with Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and comes equipped with Ultra Data Saving (UDS) Plan, S Bike Mode and S Power Planning.
One of the downside of the Galaxy J2 Ace is the absence of a fingerprint sensor. If the specs sounds a lot familiar, it is only because the J2 Ace was introduced last year and already on sale in select markets as the Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime or Galaxy Grand Prime Plus. Black, Gold and Silver are the available colour options.
