Samsung this week announced a variant/version of the Galaxy Note 4 with an advanced LTE version. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 LTE-A (Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE) will hit the stores in South Korea by mid-January 2015.
This variant would combine 3 Band LTE-A commercial service and bundle three different bands into one. The device is also said to adapt all major carriers including SK Telecom and KT. Theoretically the device could peak at a download speed of around 450Mbps on a very steady network.
Samsung is said to have used the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor on the device but had to switch to the Exynos processor due to heat generation issue (over-heating).
Commenting on the launch, Samsung IM Division sinjonggyun CEO Said;
“Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE products to demonstrate the unlimited growth potential and long-term innovation and leadership in Samsung’s Mobile Communications”. Consumers will continue to innovative products that provide the best user experience said the showcase will continue to take the lead in the global market. “
Since the exact details of the Exynos chipset is unknown it could be the next Exynos SoC which is said to have a Cat.10 LTE modem . The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE still keeps the same 5.7-inch WQHD display and 3GB of RAM.
UPDATE: Samsung has officially announced another variant of the Galaxy Note 4 with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC. Asides being the device is the first commercial device to embrace the SoC; it bring 64-bit computing and also embraces 3-Band LTE-A network which is some way faster than the normal LTE.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE (SM-N916) would be the third SoC variant of the phablet, the first features the Exynos 7 (octa-core) and the second the Qualcomm 805 (quad-core) processor.
