With Samsung’s new flagships – the Galaxy S8 and S8+ already on sale in different countries of the world; the company plans to release the refurbished version of the recalled Galaxy Note 7 in select markets such as South Korea and Vietnam. Dubbed the Samsung Galaxy Note 7R, the device is expected to launch before the end of June for a price equivalent to $620 (29% price cut from the original $875).
Available in four different colour options – Black, Coral Blue, Silver and White colour; Samsung Galaxy Note 7R now comes pre-loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat OS (the original had Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS) and the battery capacity has been cut by 8.6% from 3500mAh to 3200mAh.
Asides these changes, the device should keep the same specs and features as the original Galaxy Note 7. According to a recent GeekBench test (Single-core score = 1939; Multi-core score = 6093), the octa-core Exynos 8890 SoC released late in 2015, will power the device along with 4GB of RAM.
The rest of the specs should include – Gorilla Glass 5 protection on its 5.7-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) Quad HD Super AMOLED display, IP68 certification rating (dust and water protection), and fingerprint sensor (home button). Photography is handled by a rear 12MP main camera with f/1.7 aperture, PDAF and OIS alongside a front 5MP selfie camera with f/1.7 aperture.
