The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is now official, as expected. It has the same 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity display with QHD+ resolution as the Galaxy Note 8. It also retains the rear fingerprint sensor, IP68-rating (water and dust resistance), Iris scanner and AKG-tuned stereo speakers.
The flagship is powered by an octa-core processor (either Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 mobile platform or Exynos 9 Series 9810 SoC) paired with either 6GB LPDDR4x RAM with 128GB storage or 8GB LPDDR4x RAM with 512GB storage. Both are expandable up to 512GB via microSD.
Similar to the Galaxy S9+, it has a dual rear camera setup which has a 12MP (f/1.5 – 2.4) variable aperture camera and secondary 12MP (f/2.4) telephoto lens paired with Intelligent features. It also boasts of the AR Emoji feature and 8MP wide-angle selfie camera with f/1.7 aperture.
Power is now supplied by a 4,000mAh battery with fast wired and wireless (WPC and PMA) charging. The device features the all-new S Pen with Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE) support and Samsung’s water/carbon fiber cooling system to keep temperature down during intense sessions.
The Samsung S Pen can be used to perform multiple functions such as take selfies and group pictures, present slides, pause and play videos and more. Developers will also be able to integrate the S Pen’s new, advanced BLE functionalities into their apps later this year.
Samsung has also teamed up with Epic Games to bring Fortnite to Android starting with Samsung Galaxy devices starting with the Galaxy Note 9. With the Samsung DeX, Users can also PC-like experiences such as working on presentations, watching favourite shows and editing photos.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will be available Lavender Purple, Metallic Copper, Midnight Black with matching S Pen, and Ocean Blue with a Yellow S Pen. The 6GB/128GB model starts at $999.99 while the 8GB/512GB model costs $1,249.99. Sales commence from August 24.
