Pitching the Samsung Galaxy Note5 against the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2. wouldn’t do much justice in terms of the pricing, brand and some other but Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is no joke either. We will do the comparisons anyway and let you be the judge.

Display: Keeping it’s midrange status, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 features a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display (418ppi) which can’t be compared to the 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display (518ppi) of the Samsung Galaxy Note5 which is not only larger and sharper, it also has a stylus for input.

Processor and Graphics: The Processor and GPU uses along with both processor are almost close in performance; the Redmi Note 2 uses an Octa-core Mediatek Helio X10 (MT6759T) and PowerVR G6200 GPU while the Galaxy Note5 uses an Exynos 7420 and Mali T760 MP8 GPU.

This doesn’t mean the Mediatek Helio X10 can be said to be as powerful as the Exynos 7420 but it is more like giving credits to Xiaomi for using the same processor found on the flagship Meizu MX5 and HTC One M9+ on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2.

Memory and Storage: The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is backed by 2GB of RAM and is available in two storage variants – 16GB and 32GB (prime version). The Galaxy Note5 on the other hand is backed by a huge 4GB RAM and available in both 32GB and 64GB models with no 128GB model this year.

Ditching the microSD slot for an Apple-like approach and slimmer body build might have drawn the irk of Samsung loyalists but it doesn’t look like the company is changing it’s mind on this. The Redmi Note 2 doesn’t have this feature too.

For the front camera, both devices have a 5MP snapper for selfies.

Operating System (OS): The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 runs Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with MIUI 7 interface ontop while the Samsung Galaxy Note5 runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS with TouchWiz UI. Both device would be upgradable to Android Marshmallow (6.0) at some point.
